The brochure for this stuff is pitiful-I actually ended up shopping for the plaster on the day the Behr rep was in the store-boy did I luck out! He answered many questions that you should be able to find in Home Depot or Behr literature-but you can’t. I worked with a regular trowel and was not able to escape lines in my work-luckily I really wanted a chaotic look so it ended up working out.ģ. You can still end up with something great but you will have to struggle much to get there. Plan ahead and order it online DO NOT i repeat DO NOT use a regular trowel from a hardware store. Eli uses a double bladed trowel that I’m not familiar with and haven’t been able to find-there may be links on his pages. You will likely have to order it-just google it. It is slightly trapezoid with bevelled edges and rounded corners. Whatever you do, wherever you may choose to cut corners do buy the specialized trowel specific for this job. He works solely with the Behr product and knows so much about it-he demonstrates following label instructions as well as the techniques he has perfected after working with it extensively.Ģ. To keep it simple (and easy) just watch Eli Lucero. There are many experts and videos out there-get on YouTube and what I’ve learned is that there are many variations on the technique and they all produce great results.
These are things that I have learned along the way-I will pass this knowledge on to you in hopes that you will minimize your own errors:ġ. The application process is very similar and the results are close enough from a galloping horse! I have found the process to be near fool-proof, cleaner than painting and so much more exciting! Although available worldwide now, it is pricey-so several paint manufacturing companies have come up with their own synthetic formulas. If you aren’t familiar with this product, it is an inexpensive alternative to Italian Marmarino Plaster that has been available in Europe for centuries. This ain’t my first rodeo but I still have the tendency to apply too much product on my first coat! In spite of the fact that I have tirelessly watched Eli Lucero’s fabulous technique videos to ad nauseum, I still can’t control myself when applying that first coat.
